Village Development and Save the Environment Forum (VDSEF) Nepal is a non-profit organization that has been working in Kalikot district for more than 31 years in the fields of child rights, health and nutrition, climate change, poverty reduction, and the protection and promotion of the economic, social, and cultural rights of marginalized and disadvantaged communities.

VDSEF Nepal aims to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development in Kalikot district. The organization has extensive experience collaborating with civil society organizations (CSOs) and government authorities to improve child rights, maternal and newborn health (MNH), health and nutrition, climate change adaptation, livelihoods, and human rights among marginalized and vulnerable groups, including women (especially single mothers), youths, children, elderly persons, Dalits, and ethnic minorities.

Currently, VDSEF Nepal is implementing the Adolescent Maternal and Newborn Health Project in Tilagupha Municipality and Subhakalika Rural Municipality in partnership with Save the Children. This project envisions securing the rights of rural vulnerable children to education, protection, resilience, and sexual and reproductive health—ensuring that no child is left behind.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Under the direct supervision of Program Coordinator, the position holder is responsible to lead the MEAL and documentation component in the Adolescent MNH project at District/Palika level. The MEAL and Documentation Officer will be responsible to ensure relevant SC’s MEAL framework including knowledge management systems are operating in adolescent MNH project. The post holder will also be responsible to manage information/data and update regularly including development and implementation of MEAL plan, documents project progress and quality reports.

Role Dimensions: This position is key position to implement for ensure the result of Adolescent MNH.

KEY responsibilities.

Project planning and budgeting

§  Support project team in developing/ updating quality benchmarks and conduct periodic program monitoring visits against quality benchmarks and provide feedback to the program team.

create synergies and deliver better results.

Project implementation

§  Lead the development and implementation of MEAL plan of project at Distract/Palika level.

§  Lead the training need assessment and support Palikas in developing training plans to enhance readiness to deliver MNH services.

§  Lead to develop quality project reports, documentation and case story collection.

§  Lead to track, compile and finalize the total reach of the Adolescent MNH project.

§  Lead to produce quality project reports, case stories, lesson learns and best practices of the project.

§  Provide regular support to project team in the areas of accountability, e.g. feedback collection, sharing and feedback reporting, and tracking mechanism.

Project review and monitoring

§  Regularly review and update relevant adolescent maternal and neonatal health data from project area through DHIS2 to track the progress.

§  Support to conduct surveys, internal and external evaluations.

§  Follow up with project team for implementing agreed actions plan developed after monitoring and provide technical support and guidance to program team in planning, monitoring and reporting.

§  Participate in the project review meeting with project team to review planned activities of that month along with challenges faced and lesson learned monthly.

§  Support to conduct social audit and public hearing.

Project reporting and documentation

§  Prepared monthly project tracking and quarterly, semi-annually, and annual report and submit to Project Coordinator and updating the information related to the project.

§  Collect case studies/success story, action photos, learning, and challenges for the program documentation.

§  Prepare and submit event reports, data base along with indicator surveys. Undertaken field visits for monitoring and supervision of program personnel.

§  Share the field visit reports to the line manager with area to be improved and betterment.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL and EXPERIENCE

Bachelors in Public Health with 2 years (1 years for GEDSI group) of experience in monitoring and evaluation, research and reporting and documentation or experience in adolescent maternal and

neonatal health preferably at I/NGOs. Experience in using DHIS2 is additional assets.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS DESIRABLE SKILLS
§  Sound knowledge on monitoring and evaluation, research and reporting and documentation.

§  Knowledge and skill on maternal and neonatal health and training facilitation.

§  knowledge on MNH and GEDSI

§  Report and proposal and case studies writing skill.

§  Presentation, facilitation, and negotiation.

§  Sound knowledge and Skill in documentation and reporting in English and Nepali.

§  Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint

§  Excellent presentation and training facilitation skill and knowledge.

§  Stress management skills.

§  Time management and communication skills.

§  Excellent coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills (team building and teamwork) with key stakeholders at project and Palika level.

Additional job responsibilities

The job duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the Post holder may be

§  Ensure proper data collection, documentation, and dissemination on Adolescent MNH issues regularly.

§  Support for making district and Local level project plan with references of agreed MNH and Health and Nutrition project activities on monthly, quarterly basis.

Coordination, Collaboration and Networking

§  Ensure organizational visibility and sustainability in the Palika and community level.

§       Participate in different networks and forums and coordinate at the community level likeminded organizations for resource maximisation.

§  Coordinate closely with SAHAYATRA-III health team and other SC project and with other actors beyond project working on improving MNH situation and develop collaboration with them to

required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.

We need to keep children, adult at risk and community safe. The position holder is responsible to ensure that the position holder conduct is in line with the VDSEF and SCI’s Safeguarding policies.
