Strengthening Maternal and Newborn Health Services in Kalikot Through Local Partnership
In a remarkable effort to improve maternal and newborn healthcare services in Kalikot, One Heart Worldwide (OHW), in collaboration with Village Development and Save the Environment Forum (VDSEF)-Nepal, has successfully supported six health facilities with essential medical equipment. This initiative falls under the “Strengthening Maternal and Newborn Health Services in Partnership with Local Governments” project.
The intervention was guided by the gaps identified under the Minimum Service Standards (MSS) and tailored to the specific needs of the respective local governments. The distributed equipment included delivery beds, ANC/PNC beds, autoclaves, emergency crash carts, radiant warmers, peri lights, instrument trolleys, and other essential medical sets crucial for quality maternal and neonatal care.
Health Facilities Supported:
- Dhaulagau Health Post – Palata Rural Municipality
- Yoginaharainath Basic Hospital – Narharinath Rural Municipality
- Phukot Health Post – Raskot Municipality
- Badalkot Health Post – Pachaljharana Rural Municipality
- Mahabai Basic Hospital – Mahabai Rural Municipality
Altogether, equipment worth approximately NPR 1.1 million was handed over to the respective facilities and management committees. The local governments took responsibility for transporting the equipment from the district headquarters to the health institutions.
This collaborative initiative reflects a shared commitment to ensuring accessible, quality maternal and newborn healthcare in remote regions like Kalikot. By working hand-in-hand with local governments, we are one step closer to achieving health for all.
