Project Brief: MACP Adolescent Maternal & Neonatal Health (MNH) Project

The MACP Adolescent MNH Project is a collaborative initiative between VDSEF Nepal and Save the Children, implemented in Tilagupha Municipality and Subhakalika Rural Municipality, Kalikot. The project aims to improve maternal and neonatal health (MNH) services for adolescents, particularly pregnant and parenting adolescents (PPAs), by strengthening health systems, enhancing community-based interventions, and promoting social and behavioral change.

Key Objectives:

  • Improve access to quality MNH services for adolescents.
  • Strengthen health system capacity, including health facility readiness and provider skills.
  • Facilitate social and behavior change communication (SBC) through youth and community engagement.
  • Promote local-level advocacy for policy integration and resource mobilization.
  • Enhance data-driven decision-making through robust MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) frameworks.

Core Strategies & Activities:

  • Strengthen coordination with municipal health sections, health facilities, and schools.
  • Provide technical support, coaching, and mentoring to healthcare providers.
  • Implement Minimum Service Standards (MSS) and simulation-based mentoring.
  • Conduct community awareness sessions, peer support groups, and home visits for PPAs.
  • Develop evidence-based reports, best practices, and policy advocacy materials.

  • Youth groups and peer networks
  • Health facility staff and local stakeholders
